The 3x3 Reset: A Simple Weekly Clarity Tool

Have you ever sit down Monday morning, look at your calendar, and instantly feel behind?
You're not alone. I hear this constantly in coaching sessions, and honestly, I still feel it myself some weeks. People are doing a lot but not always moving the right things forward. There's pressure to start the week strong, and that pressure often turns into trying to do everything at once.
I saw this same pattern for years in business banking, sitting across from owners who'd walk in with three priorities that had quietly become nine. Not because they lacked discipline. Because nobody had ever taught them the difference between being busy and being clear. The businesses that actually grew weren't run by the people working the most hours. They were run by the people who knew exactly which three things mattered that week, and said no to the rest without guilt.
Clarity doesn't come from hustle. It comes from choosing with intention.
The 3x3 Reset
When things feel heavy or noisy, this is the tool I still use myself, and the one I hand to nearly every client in their first few weeks of coaching.
3 Priorities: What must move forward this week, no matter what else happens?
3 Distractions: What can I let go of, delegate, or delay without real cost?
3 Supports: Who or what can help lighten the load that I haven't actually asked yet?
Write them down. Keep them visible somewhere you'll actually see them, not buried in a notes app you forget to open. Let them guide your decisions when Tuesday throws something unplanned at you, because it will.
You don't need to clear the whole plate. You need to know which three things on it actually matter. That's the whole exercise.
"You can do anything, but not everything."
Ask yourself: what are you holding onto right now that isn't actually yours to carry? A task someone else could own. A worry that belongs to next quarter, not this week. A standard you're holding yourself to that nobody else is asking for.
Name it. Then set it down, even temporarily. That's not avoidance. That's clarity doing its job.
If this resonates, book a clarity session and let's find where your next Wright Step is.
