The question that sank good businesses
When I was adjudicating credit, one question sank more good applications than bad numbers ever did. I'd look at a healthy business and ask, "If the owner got hit by a bus tomorrow, who runs this?"
When the answer was nobody, the bank had to price that risk. Most owners never hear the question put that way, but every lender is asking it.
Most women two to five years into business are carrying an ownership problem that looks like a time problem. They're still doing the work that got them here, and nobody has shown them how to step out of the operator's chair without the business wobbling.
If the bus question made you wince, you're in good company. It shows up as no real week off, every decision waiting on you, and a business that can only grow as far as your calendar stretches. That's what this session is for.
